Paul Monk

Paul joined Nean in the summer of 2005 to take up the position of Senior Legal Counsel.  He is a graduate of the University of Oxford and a former managing partner of major UK-headquartered law firm Allen & Overy.

During his 30 years with Allen & Overy and 25 years as a Partner, Mr Monk specialised in international finance with a particular emphasis on international capital markets, most recently focussing on trustee law and structured financial productions and acting for most of the world’s largest financial institutions.

In addition to the London office of Allen & Overy, Mr Monk has been based in the Dubai, Tokyo, Pairs and Hong Kong offices.  During his time in Hong Kong, he was Asia Managing Partner, where he was responsible for all of the firm’s Asian operations as well as being elected to the Council of the Law Society of Hong Kong.

He has lectured on legal topics in many countries throughout the world and has until recently taught on a graduate law course at the University of London.  Mr Monk is qualified as a solicitor in England (1974) and Hong Kong (1995).
