Michael Ashurst

Michael is Nean’s Asia Representative.  He has over 18 years’ experience working in Asia, predominantly focussing on Wealth Management and Corporate banking.  He has first-hand knowledge of financial markets in Indonesia, Taiwan, Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Prior to joining Nean in November 2002, Michael spent 27 years with JP Morgan. During his career with the bank, he specialised in credit analysis, ship financing, corporate banking and risk management.

From 1985 to 1986 Mr Ashurst was head of banking and General Manager of the bank’s Taipei office.  In 1987, he moved to Singapore to become General Manager of the Singapore office.  From 1989 to 1990, Mr Ashurst was head of Risk Management for JP Morgan Securities Ltd in London.

He returned to Asia in late 1990 to join the bank’s Wealth Management Business based in Hong Kong, in which his first assignment was as head of the Philippine Private Client market.  In 1994, on his appointment as head of the Southeast Asian Private Client business, he moved from Hong Kong to Singapore, where he has been based ever since.
